Re: What is the going rate for gifts for a classmate's Birthday!?!?!
I would probably spend around $15 on a classmate, no more than $20 tops.

I spend around $20 usually - a little more if we know the family well.

I would do around $20
If it were twins, I would try to stick around $15 each

I buy a gift so it just depends on what they want or like. For twins I buy 2 gifts that cost the same. It could be $10 or it could be $30 it just depends on what I buy.

I usually spend $20-25 on a gift.
We just had DD party a couple of weeks ago and she received a lot of GC for $25.

Re: What is the going rate for gifts for a classmate's Birthday!?!?!
I aim for $25 per kid.
I have to be honest, I really sort of hate when my kids get gift cards--my school age kids anyway. First, I think kids get excited to actually see wrapped gifts and open the paper--much more exciting. Second, it's difficult to go on a "shopping spree" with one kid days or weeks later while the other ones are left out. Last, I always forget we have them (and so do my kids); if anything, I end up using them at some later time when I have to buy their Christmas presents or when some other kid's birthday comes up.

I always do $25-30. Usually a 25 gift card and something small to open even if a pack of baseball cards or a lego man etc.
