First time giving food btdt advice please re homemade
I would like to have my DD start sweet potatoes. It will be her first food. I know that I bake it, purée it ...but then what? Do I make thinner with the formula? Then if I want to use it the next day and the day after do I freeze it? How do I defrost it? Can I just keep it in the fridge--how long will it last? Thank you!

Yes, you got it: Bake it till it's soft, mash it with a fork (puree it if you like when she's really little and first starting) and mix it with a liquid to thin it out. Formula works, and honestly so does water. And when she's ready, so does applesauce. YUM - I used to share that with her.
You can keep it in the fridge for 3 days. Label it so you remember when you made it.
You can freeze it for 3 months. We bought silicone ice cube trays and froze food in those - super easy, and each one is 1 oz. so it's so easy to just pop out two, warm them up, and know exactly how much you're giving.
First feedings are so exciting! Have fun!

First time giving food btdt advice please re homemade
I always thinned it with some water when I pureed it. In the fridge, I used it within 2 days. Anything more I froze in ice cube trays and then transferred to freezer bags. One sweet potato will make a LOT so I would definitely plan to freeze some. I defrosted in the microwave.
Check out wholesomebabyfood.com. It's a great resource for all this info.

I actually never thinned out the food I made. Everything was always a good consistency for my DD. But I would make a big batch and freeze immediately in ice cube trays. Then I separated them into the snack size ziplock baggies with either 2 or 3 cubes (depending on how much she was eating at the time) in each bag. Each night, I took out the food she was going to eat the next day and put it in the frige to defrost. Then just popped it in the micowave for a few seconds to warm it up before each meal.

Thank you ladies! Do I have to serve it warm always can I just heat to take the chill out? Also can I put it in the fridge for 2-3 days and freeze what is left or just separate it into the container in fridge for those 3 days and freeze the rest?

i just took the chill out. Micorwave for a few secs. So far dd2 tried cereal and I actually mix cold formula straight from the fridge into it and she eats it cold. She didn't like it warm. Werid since she likes her formula (added rice) warm lol
I would just freeze what you will NOT be using within a few days right away. Just eaisier for me. Cook, poor into trays and freeze

I would separate it before hand. Put what you will use within 3 days in the fridge, and put the rest in the freezer.
I bought little plastic containers at BRU, that held 3 or 4 ounces each, and used those in the fride. Then, I would just stick the container in a bowl or mug of hot water to warm up. The plastic containers have a snap lid that's connected, they are dishwasher safe, and I still find uses for them and DD is 2. Def worth the investment.

I pealed and boiled. Made it like mashed potatoes. I served warm or col or room temp. The twins liked the change. I froze in portions for the 2 of them.
