Day Care Inspections?
Does anyone know if there is a law on how frequently day care centers get inspected? Thanks!

Day Care Inspections?
From my recollection it's once a year unless they have violations that need following up.

Inspections - Every licensed child care program must be inspected at least once before each license renewal. At least 50% of all registered providers are inspected annually.
Info from OCFS
I believe registration is every 4 years. But when I worked in DC, we were inspected every year.

I did, thanks. Their last inspection was a year ago to the day, and it says the violations have been corrected, but I want an update - a year is a long time.

I'm pretty sure my daycare's renewal is every 2 years. But they also have periodic unannounced drop in inspections.

IMO if you are questioning the violations that much then that daycare is not for you. Also do not be afraid to ask the provider about the violations. They should be upfront about it and if not then it would be a red flag.
IMO every place will get a violation at some point but as long as they are minor I would not worry too much.

Problem is my DD is already there. I signed her up where my SIL signed my nephew up. She knew people who went there and they are happy, so I went along, until Tuesday when she started and there was an incident I posted about and now I am regretting my decision.
The violations were serious IMO. Inadequate background checks, uncertified teachers, missing teacher vaccination forms, and a teacher who was not healthy enough to be at work. They were a year ago and have been corrected, but I want them to check again.

Those definitely sound like serious violations, especially the inadequate background checks

Day Care Inspections?
This is the nursery school at the temple, right? Is it a full day program?
As far as teachers being too ill to work, I know in my experience working at a center that unless we were dying we got guilt tripped until we came in. Or we were asked to work half since we were so understaffed. Not right, but it happened.

Yes. They have a full day program, but my DD only goes twice a week for 4 hours.
And it could be that they were just missing some paperwork for all the other violations, but now that DD is already enrolled I don't want to ask since I am afraid if I  they will mistreat DD.

Yeah those are serious. I'd definitely question that. If they're minor things it's one thing but the background checks and vax are another.

The background check thing is definitely a red flag but could have just been a paperwork issue, same with the other violations.
However, knowing this place is under the jurisdiction of OCFS, that mom bringing your daughter to the bathroom is potentially a violation. Anyone "working" with the kids has to be fingerprinted by the state. So even if she was there helping out, she still needs to be cleared.
If you have any concerns, call OCFS and they will go to the center and respond to them. I would rather be "that mom" than not say anything.

Here's the thing
I'm not in anyway saying you shouldn't question them but
I have worked in daycares for many years and this is what I have seen
Like others many are not given the oppurtunity to call in sick.
Also the background checks are supposed to get done ASAP but it is in the hands of the employee. They must do it on their own time.
As far as the incident te other day with the bathroom that should not have been allowed. Not even if the director knew the parent for 30 years.
As a parent I would pull my child.
