so aggravated with birth control. need advice
ok so i had a baby 10 weeks ago and have been EBF since. on tuesday i had mirena put in and on wednesday the strings had popped out, so i had to go back to the doctor to have them tucked back behind the cervix. not fun. by wednesday night the strings had come loose again. i could tell bc it felt irritating and like a stabbing feeling. i tugged on them and the IUD came out, which was my intention bc i was so upset and frustrated. i took it as a sign that maybe my body did not want the mirena in there. my problem/question is, what now? i could take the mini pill but am worried about it diminishing my supply of BM. we could use condoms, but "using condoms" is how i ended up pregnant with DD2 - it didnt go exactly as planned. has anyone had a good experience with the mini pill? has anyone had a similar experience with mirena? i am so frustrated. thanks!

Mirena didn't work for me either...my body rejected it and pushed it out.
I use Nuvaring, 3 weeks in and then I replace right away with a new one and skip my period all together.

Same here. I think it's somewhat rare that it affects your supply.

i used the mini pill for over 18 months. i feel like it effected my supply a little in the beginning, but not terribly and once my body adjusted to the pill it was fine.

I've been on the mini pill twice while bfing and haven't had any issues...I'm going back on it as soon as I get around to filling my prescription.

I never used the mini pill while BF but did take it for years for other reasons. FOr you to avoid breakthrough bleeding I highly suggest taking it at the EXACT same time everyday. I had breakthrough bleeding all the time until I set my alarm and always carried my pills so I could take it at the same time everyday.

Had a terrible iud experience (paragard tho, not mirena). Was reluctant to go the hormonal route but did not want to take chances after having triplets! I've been on nuvaring for 6 months and am a big fan. Less systemic estrogen than the pill, plus a few rounds of hbc lowers your ovarian cancer risk.
