Poor DD - I need advice
For the past two days, dd has been pooping up a storm. Seriously, like 7-8 times a day. Her poops are not runny. They, for the most part, have a normal consistency. (Sorry for the tmi)
Now her poor little tushy is raw and burns her. I stopped using wipes - now a warm wet paper towel and desitin.
She's 6m and started baby food a few weeks. I just gave her sweet potatoes.
I don't know if it's an allergic reaction to the sweet potatoes or what, but her tush is raw and she's screaming every time I open her diaper. It makes me sad.
Any suggestions.

It doesnt sound like an allergic reaction but maybe like shes having issues digesting the sweet potatoes. My dd did amd i stopped giving them to her and just tried at the start of every month and see if it got better.
I would say use desitin rapid relief and continue to use the wet gauze because its soft on her toosh.
Im sorry i know how it sux to watch them in pain from diaper rash. Just make sure to cover it with a liberal amount. And change her diaper odten so shes not sitting in pee or doodie so it doesnt further irritate the area. It should clear up in a day or 2.
And i would stop feeding her sweet potatoes to see if its that causing it. Which it most likely is. Sweet potatoes are actually a lil harder to break down. Try squash. And when you try sweet potatoes again try watering them down.

I agree with all of this.
Frequent dirty diapers can be a sign of improper digestions - meaning she may not be ready to digest solids, or just the starchy potatoes.

If you do this, make sure that her bum is bone dry before you put the Aquaphor on. Otherwise, you're sealing in the moisture and making it worse. Or you can buy Triple Paste, which is like thick glue - it creates a pretty impenetrable barrier between the skin and the dirty diaper.
Your poor baby.  We've been through a lot of pooping issues (and the resulting diaper rash issues) in this house and I know what you're going through.

I would air it out as much as possible and use a&d and then desitin or triple paste. Sorry she is so uncomfortable.

Poor DD - I need advice
This happened to my DD when we started solids too, it wasn't an allergic reaction, but I think her little tummy was struggling to digest the new type of food. We liberally applied diaper cream at every diaper change, stopped solids for about a week or so and gave them another try when she was closer to 6.5-7 mo. She did much better once she was a little older. Hope your DD feels better soon!!

I gave dd sweet potatoes first too and she had a similar rxn. I put those on the back burner for a few months and just tried them again at 8 mos. and she was fine.

Thank you ladies. I'll put the sweet potatoes on the back burner - shame it was the one she really liked - not worth the pain though.
