Booked 2nd Birthday Party, but now my DS no longer likes the place.
I booked my twins second birthday at White Post Farms a while ago for the fall festival package. I gave the $150 non-refundable deposit. We brought them there last weekend and my DS wanted nothing to do with the animals and when I tried to bring him near them he would scream. Now, I don't know what to do about the party in September. Should I just cancel and cut my losses? Will I be responsible to pay the full amount? My DD loves this place, but I don't want to have my DS crying his whole party and waste all that money if he won't enjoy it.

My DD hates the animals too. I would say if all you are going to lose is $150 I would cancel and cut my losses. We went to a party there not too long ago and DD wouldn't go on the pony or feed the animals. I left saying DD will never have a party there! Maybe you can ask them to gear the party away from the animals as much as possible - maybe they can do the hayride and the train ride. DD isn't afraid of the birds, so maybe they can go in there as well.

Here's my thought process on 2nd birthdays. I paid close to $300 for DDs bday and she doesn't remember any of it. It's not a "big" birthday. White Post can get expensive. Cut your losses.

Call up & pretend you are interested in booking. Then ask what would happen if you book & then change your mind. Play stupid & ask.

I agree with this. We are going to be doing birthdays at home for awhile. We also are having the twins 2nd birthday at home again. They have no idea anyway.

Do you think maybe with his friends there he might enjoy it better? Maybe the circumstances would make it a different experience for him?

I would still make it happen especially if my other twin liked it. Those parties are over before you know it. I would simply not push him to do things with the animals. He doesnt have to feed them pet them or ride the ponies. There is so much other stuff to do especially around fall festival time. Have him ride the train or toy car rides there is also the playgrounds and I believe there will be bounce houses. I would also talk to WPF maybe they can suggest something other than feeding the animals like throwing in the train ride instead? Call me mommy dearest lol but I wouldn't loose the $150.

Thank you all for your opinions. I'm still debating if my DS just had a bad day and that is why he reacted that way. I have to decide soon, because the party is in less in a month. The party is a bit expensive for my DS not to have a good time. I'm going to look at Bounce U tomorrow, because we went to a party there a few weeks ago and he had a blast, but I'm going to see if he still likes it. My DD is so easy going. She is happy with anything we decide to do.

I disagree. Kids may not " remember" experiences in the way that we can ( exactly relay the events later on), but that doesn't mean these experiences aren't memorable, enjoyable, character shaping, intriguing, and on and on.
I agree about canceling the party bc ds didn't enjoy the place, but not because ehh he won't even remember.
Imo, you can still find something else if you want to.

Honesty, if your DD still likes it, I'd keep it. I just booked my twins 3rd birthday at pump it up. We were there for my nephews birthday and DS wares nothing to do with anything. DD had a blast. My DS is very picky and probably would not be happy no matter where we books his party so we are just going to go with the flow an hopefully 3 not us from now he'll enjoy it with all his friends and cousins being there.

You can do a day trip to white post for much less than spending a small fortune on a bday party that they won't remember (or like) , and still get the same experience. JMHO
ETA. The bday party that I had for DD almost 4 years ago.....a girl that was there I just found out is on DDs soccer team now. DD has no clue who she is.
If you have money to blow, go for it. Me personally, I'm on a tight budget, so I wouldn't. Your kids will have plenty of memorable experiences. 2 is still very young.
