HSG X-ray

Hey lades! I remember reading that some of you had the hsg dye test done. Saw my re and us sending me to get it done tomorrow. He freaked me out explaining it! How bad was it really? He said there would be cramping, how long did it last?? Thanks!

Re: HSG X-ray

Everyone is different. Some people say it's a little crampy, others say it's death. lol

It all depends on if you have a blockage. For me, both tubes were blocked when they first started so it was extremely painful. The weird thing is it only hurt as the dye is going in bc she would stop every so often to let me catch my breath and the pain would immediately stop. And as soon as the test is over, you feel nothing. Like nothing ever happened, so that's good. Plus the test is fast.

Hopefully you don't have any blockages and it feels like mild period cramps.

Take painkillers before. Motrin/Advil. I didn't take anything bc I was loaded up on steroids and benedryl bc of a Shellfish Allergy

Good Luck!!

Re: HSG X-ray

The anticipation is a lot worse. The procedure itself only last a few minutes. It's pressure but nothing unbearable. I felt a bit of cramping afterwards but nothing terrible. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Good luck to you.

Thanks ladies! Hope it will be easy! We're you ok to drive after? Dh is coming with me but had a knee replacement 4 weeks ago so he's not allowed to drive yet and my family doesn't know about any of this so I can't ask them to drive me.

I went by myself and drove home. Had some cramping after but was not too bad.

Re: HSG X-ray

DH came with me and drove but I would have been pperfectly fine to drive.
FYI...could have just been a coincidence but we got pregnant the following month.

As another poster said, it's really up to the person. I don't want to scare you, but I want to be honest. Mine hurt. A lot. It was just cramping, but really bad cramping. Mine lasted about 20 minutes afterwards and then was nothing. I was able to take the subway home after sitting in the waiting room for about a half hour.

They say it hurts when there's a blockage, but supposedly I didn't have any blockages. HOWEVER, 2 weeks later I got my BFP. So I'd do it a million times if I had to b/c that's how we got DS.

Thanks ladies! So glad it's over!! Mine was quite painful, but glad I went. Left tube was completely open but the dr said right tube had possible blockage but thinks some of the dye went through. Going to my re on Tuesday for full results.

Hoping I get the same result as many of you! I went to lunch with dh last week and we shared mussels and inside one of mine I found a cute tiny baby mussel. Hoping its a sign of what's to come!

Great news that the left is open. Sorry it hurt though Chat Icon It's the blockage. The pressure buildup is quite painful. Hopefully it's worth it in the end!
