So, this weekend I have to go up to Boston to spend the weekend with my inlaws for my nephew's first birthday. I'm super excited to see him and so happy to celebrate his first birthday but there is this HUGE part of me that just can't stand being around them. SIL got pregnant as a surprise and NEVER WANTED KIDS EVER. She's even admitted to my family that she feels ZERO MATERNAL CONNECTION TO HER CHILD. I've wanted to be a mom since before I can remember. I never dreamed of my big career, I've always thought of being a mom (and no I don't feel that's anti-feminist, in fact, I truly believe that that's what the whole movement was about, freedom to chose to have a career or to be a homemaker and raise your family). Anyway, we hadn't told any of them what's been going on, and for good reason. I'm still not telling MIL because I don't want to hear it and I know DH doesn't want to hear it.
the reason why this is becoming an issue is because SIL thought we were staying the whole weekend through Monday since we all have off. I cannot spend any more time than necessary, I was near hysterics just shopping for my nephew's birthday gifts. So I email her to explain what's been going on, how I've had multiple miscarriages, and how I'm going to see a specialist and blah blah blah - I write this 4 paragraph email to her. What do I get back? 2 sentences.... REALLY?!?!?!??! Is that all you can muster up to say to me?

Obnoxious.
That's the word that comes to mind. People just don't Ef-in care unless something affects them directly. I think I'm a softie. I feel everyones pain around me, no matter what their issue and ALWAYS try to offer myself for venting or anything else.
Not everyone does that. And they suck.

This is the very reason my DH and I have chosen to keep this between us. Family doesn't know, only my 2 best girlfriends. A lot of people don't understand and are insensitive and/or ignorant. So their comments/suggestions would only further stress me out. I by no means am hiding infertility bc I do plan on coming clean to everyone if we ever have a baby. However, now, for my sanity I don't share the news with anyone bc it further upsets me. I rely a lot on this board for information and venting. I've learned that only people who have stood in our shoes truly understand our frustrations.

OMG, thank God! I was wondering if I was being too sensitive about it. I think the thing that gets me is that she took almost no time to respond, it was so quick and curt. I just was surprised.
