Traveling on Plane with 2YO....

We have to bring the car seat on the plane as we are not renting a car, but borrowing a family members car for the duration of our trip.

Does anyone have a recommendation on what to use within the airport to help carry the car seat? I see these car seat transporters online, but don't know if they are worth it.

Our DD has never flown before....does Benadryl help with any ear pain from the pressure?

I plan to have a bag of activities for her since its a nearly 6-hr flight.

Any other recommendations?

No advice for what to transport the car seat in. We always check it in with the luggage. Once less thing to lug around.

Regarding the flight
1 - have lots of activities for dd
2 - bring new books or small toys
3- portable dvd player/ipad with some favor movies or shows
4- we just gave our kids something to drink during take off and landing so it can help there ears.

I have never given benedryl

Whenever I've flown with my kids I've always checked their carseats with the luggage so I cant help you there. As far as Benadryl for pressure I dont believe it would help. I would just make sure she has lots to drink during take off and landing. The swallowing will help stop the pressure from building up. I would get some new toys that she will see for the first time on the plane as well as some of her favorites. Good luck!

A 6 hour flight? That's brave!

I borrowed a friend's car seat transporter. It is easier than lugging it by hand, but it is quite $$. I have lugged it by hand in the past, but you really need a strong person to do it (now we have 2 kids, so it's too complicated). I don't check the carseat because the kids slept in it more often than not.

We feed the kids as the plane is going up and down. The feeding will have them swallow and regulate their ear pressure.

I've flown numerous times iwth my boys and they haven't had an issue with their ears - a lot of times they have slept through take off and landing. If you ahve something to drink for take off and landing it will help since they can swallow and pop their ears. I wouldn't use Benadryl because it causes different reactions in different kids (it makes my DS hyper).

I usually check my carseat with luggage but, my friend has the GoGo kids wheels that attach to the seat and raves about it. Another option would be to order a Cosco Scenara and have it shipped there (unless you plan on using it on the plane).

Bring lots of snacks and and some new toys - art stuff, portable dvd player or tablet.
