Fever not responding to Tylenol or Ibuprofen

Ds (4) has been running a fever. It first started 4am yesterday morning. Gave Tylenol, and he was fine until 5pm when it went up to 103.
After taking Tylenol, he slept from 5pm until 1:30am today, but woke with fever again. Gave ibuprofen hoping it would last through the night, but he was up several times.
Fever was still over 100 this am. Gave Tylenol and took him to doc who said fever had broken since his cheeks were red and fever was only at 99. Throat, ears were clear. She said it is a virus.
By 1pm, it was up to 103 again- and did not drop after Tylenol.
Any thoughts?
He is complaining that he doesn't feel well and has no appetite, but no other symptoms. He's been in bed all day. I am not sure how to help him other than giving fluids, cool rag, ice pops...

Keep doing what your doing. Keep him as cool as possible, naked if you have to. If that doesn't work and it were me I would go to the er if possible,

Going through same thing except my son was diagnosed with coxsackie. He is running real high fevers (104) and I am piggy backing Tylenol and Motrin every three hours and putting cold wash clothes on him! Keep doing what u are doing! Hope he feels better!
