Hi Everyone!
I am a first time mom and just had my son a week ago. I was just wondering when you took your newborn out. I am extremely nervous to take him to even family houses for fear of him getting sick. Our pediatrician said to be chosy about where we take him. Plus if he does get a high fever they say it is an automatic hospital stay. Any advice would be appreciated!!!! Thanks

Everyone has different views on when it is ok to take baby out. Some go out on day 1, others wait a few months. We waited 2 months until we took DD out in public and only took her to smaller places. We took her everywhere at 3 months.

I just had my 3rd baby 7 weeks ago. I have taken my babies out as early as a week. Not to crowded places but the store, library, parks, my Mom's house, BBQ's & out for walks. I also have a screen I put over her car seat (sun & but shield) that prevented anyone from reaching in and touching her. All my kids are fine..they survived the world.

Congrats! My DD is also a newborn and I asked her pediatrician this last week. He told me 8-10 weeks for places like the mall, etc., where there are a lot of people. He gave the ok for going on walks in nice weather, my parents house, places with limited contact with many people.

I had our DS 6 weeks ago. I had him at my parents house when he was 5 days old. I don't go to stores or anything but I go to people's houses. I can leave him in a different room if I want to, away from people. My SIL didn't take our niece out until 3 months and she gets sick all the time. I am a firm believer that because she was in the house for so long and not open to germs she gets sick often.

congrats  I had dd in November and she was about 6 weeks old when I took her to the mall for her picture with santa. we were in and out, JUST went for the pic and there was no line. then right at 2 months old, I took her to a restaurant for my dad's bday. after that, I started taking her everywhere. knock on wood, she's 9 months old and so far, healthy... and loooves being out and about
