Those with 2 kids, different ages in one bedroom

DH is begging for another baby and I am completely against it right now b/c of our living situation. We are in a small 2 bedroom appt. I can see putting two older children or two of the same age in the same room but isn't it tough having an infant and an older child in the same room? Those that have done it, is it easier than you expected? Do you just adjust and make it work? I can just picture a baby waking up a toddler every night and then having 2 miserable kids. Please shed some light.

Our girls are 2 years apart and started sharing a room when the baby was about 4-5 months old (and sleeping a bit more at night). Honestly, DD1 was SOOO excited to share her room with her baby sister. DD1 is also a very sound sleeper so she never woke when the baby cried. We do have a sound machine which blocks out most noises. Now they are 1 and 3 and things are going great. DD2 goes to bed first at 7:30 and DD1 goes at 8:30 and they never wake each other. If the baby wakes up first in the morning I just scoop her up and close the door behind me so older DD can keep sleeping.

The room is pretty small too, but we make it work. We have a toddler bed, crib, dresser, 2 closets, rocker and a bookshelf in there and still enough room to play.

My girls share a room they are now 14 months and 3 years old. They have been sharing since my youngest was 6 months. Sometimes it's rough when my youngest wakes up but very rarely does my older dd wake. If my oldest wakes she will go right back to sleep. They sort of entertain each other in the mornings. I love watching them
On the monitor because my older dd goes over to the crib and talks and gives me youngest one toys. Eventually they all get use to it and now I don't think they would like being separate. My grandma always says when she grew up back in the 40s everyone shared their rooms and they all survived!

we are about to have our second and we are also in a small 2 bedroom.

The baby will sleep in our room until I feel confident that he or she will sleep through the night and not disturb my 2 year old.

My boys - 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 share a room. It's been going pretty well for the most part since 1 1/2 year old is a fabulous sleeper - but, he wakes up early and sometimes that wakes up DS 1.
