Spin off to Going back to Work
My nanny started this week. I had day care lined up but panicked and hired a nanny.
I've been home with her this week and on thursday I go to work all day in the city. The few times I have had to work over the last month my sister watched DD and would send me pictures, facetime me etc. Made it soo much easier.
If I don't pay for my nanny's phone, can I ask her to send me pictures? I'm going to see try my ipad tonight to see if I can have her use that to facetime me while I have my phone with me at work. Not sure since its the same account.
If the facetime thing or having her send me pictures dosn't work, does anyone have any suggestions?
DD is 3.5 months old and the thought of leaving her all day sends me into a tizzy. PLEASE tell me it gets easier?

It gets easier. My nanny texted me pictures and updates which helped. She already had a cell phone with texting capability and unlimited texts. We only considered nannies who had cell phones but if she didnt have texting I probably would have paid for it because it made a big difference for me.

good luck - it does get easier! i started dd when she was 13 weeks old, and it was hard for me but easy for her
in terms of asking for pics and facetime if you can do it through your ipad that would probably be best. we have mine set up at home - the ipad is linked to my email address and my phone is my phone number. DH was able to facetime with me earlier this month when i was away for work and he used the ipad bc its a bigger screen for dd to see me.

I would ask her if she has unlimited texts as you would love to periodically receive pictures. One thing our nanny did that I loved was get a lob/ journal everyday of what happened.
When she ate, diaper changed, pooped, and what activities they did and how their disposition was. I looked forward to reading that every evening. Even now that my boys are almost 4 and 5 I get updates daily on how the day was.

Spin off to Going back to Work
Thanks everyone. It came up today without me having to ask. Se said she can send me pics no problem (phew!) I tired my iPad / phone and was able to FaceTime from one device to other. I mentioned this tommy nanny too so ill show her how to do it so that I can FaceTime on Thursday (double phew!)
I'm soo nervous and sad about going back to work and leaving her. :(
