Introducing water

So DD is 6 months and the DR gave the ok for water. Did you introduce water in a different way than the bottle? My SIL said to try a sippy cup to give water. I tried it first and it seemed that you had to suck really hard to get anything out. She played with it for a bit and eventually tried to suck on it. Not sure if she got anything out of it though. Should I just try to put it in her bottle? I don't want her to confuse the two I guess.

IMO...don't put it in the bottle, skip the sippy cups and go right to a straw cup instead. Playtex little grippers makes a small starter cup that if you squeeze a little the water comes up the straw to the top. (Note: fill the cup with water. It's easier to squeeze)

I started DD just after 5 months (when she had cereal I would give her a little to clean out her mouth) now at just over 6 months she almost has it. She can suck the water up and usually spits a bunch back out but she is drinking some as well. And she is learning to hold the cup too since it hashandles.

Sippys are said not to be good for oral moter development. Straw cups work different muscles therefore letting their mouth muscles develop better
