Anybody have the umbilical cord attached on the SIDE of the placenta

Had my 20 week sono the other day, and they told me this. They said it can cause growth problems in the third trimester. Did anybody have this? How did it turn out? Any problems? If there were problems, what did the doc do? I'm afraid that if there are growth problems that they'll have to take the baby early.

yes me.
I had Velamentous cord insertion.
it was also found out at my 20w but it also showed vasa previa. Vasa previa corrected itself in about 2 months.
As far as the cord insertion I just had more sonos to make sure she was growing correctly.
My dr and I decided that it was the best to have a csection due to the cord. DD was born 39 weeks at 6lbs 12oz.

I had this as well. It was discovered when I had the big sono (don't remember what week that was), maybe 16-20 weeks?

I had to go to more sonos to monitor growth, but DD was fine and growing at a normal rate.

My ob also suggested a C-section (I already had one with my first) because of the risk of the cord detaching during delivery.

DD was born perfectly healthy via C-section!

Thanks ladies. I'm afraid this is going to rule out my chances of a vbac now. At least I know that the baby will be ok, with increased monitoring.
