Anyone ever have trouble getting furniture into house?
So I am so excited that I ordered a couch and chair for our new living room!!! And now I'm sick to my stomach that it won't fit through our 39 inch doorway. I measured. I'm sure it will be fine. I'm just stressing and will probably stress till its delivered and in the room.
My MIL says they have their ways of getting stuff in. Which makes me feel better.
Please put my mind at ease...tell me you've never had trouble getting furniture inside!

Anyone ever have trouble getting furniture into house?
I have had trouble - but it worked out! I found a couch that I loved and wanted for my co-op. I wasn't sure if it would fit, so the store sent someone to measure (for a fee). The guys that came said it would fit, so I went to order and they wanted me to sign a form saying if it didn't fit, too bad, it was my problem. I refused, saying their guys said it would fit and I paid for that service - why should I take responsibility! They finally agreed to sell it without the form. They came to deliver and couldn't get it in through the door! I was panicked! Luckily my co-op was on the 1st floor and they were able to take the LR window out and get the couch in that way - but I had JUST moved in and thought someone from the co-op was going to come and yell at me for taking the window out (but they never did). (And I wasn't there, but somehow, DH was able to get the couch out the door of the co-op when I moved out). If it makes you feel any better, when I was shopping for the couch, a few places mentioned that there are services that take the furniture apart and put it back together inside your home - my cousin had to do this with an armoire she bought and you'd never even know it.
ETA: Before the co-op incident, I lived in a very old house with narrow doors. I had ordered a large couch and chair and they were able to get it through the door, no problem.

Re: Anyone ever have trouble getting furniture into house?
When we put our couch in the basement it took FOREVER to get it down there because of the stair rail..we had to nudge here and there, scratched some walls, made a few little holes, but then just patched things up and painted and we were all okay.

same exact thing happened with my co-op!
there are people who will take your furniture apart and get it in for you and put it back together like it was never touched. A friend at work had to do this. They were very happy with the service.

Do you have a sliding door? My DH popped out the slider to get our couch inside.

Anyone ever have trouble getting furniture into house?
We had this problem when we moved into thus house I have a sharp narrow turn in my staircase to go upstairs to our bedroom and our box spring and armoire didn't fit. The movers tried everything. My dad luckily took our armoire apart and reassembled it and we ad to cut the box spring to bend it!!!

Yep we had a problem with our couch too. But they were able to angle and lift and maneuver it in ways I never would have thought of! I wouldn't worry. They will find a way, they know what they are doing.
