My 5 y/o dd flips out everytime i tell her im pregnant
im pregnant with dc2 and my 5 y/o dd refuses to acccept that shes gonna be a big sister. she wont even belive that there is a baby in my belly! every time i tell her she flips out saying no there isnt and i just drop it cuz i dont wanna upset her. im only 9 weeks so there is still time but how do i get her to accept it? even before i was pregnant if we ever asked her if she wanted a baby sister or brother she would flip out and say daddy can have a baby but mommy cant lol. shes a tough cookie, this is not gonna be easy, im dreading the jelousy issues when the baby is born

I think you just need to wait it out, she probably doesn't understand the concept yet. It doesn't necessarily indicate that there will be jealousy issues down the road. Just be patient and I'm sure she'll come around, especially once you start showing and she has a visual connection to what you're saying.

Re: My 5 y/o dd flips out everytime i tell her im pregnant
My brother famously hated me when I was born. He was 5. He tried to throw me in the garbage, and when he asked my mom how long I would be staying she said until I got married, so he asked his friend if his little brother could marry me and take me away. We are super, super close. Yeah we had sibling rivalry growing up, but he very quickly grew out of it and enjoyed having a little sibling! I think you just need to do your best to get her used to it and then go with the flow.
