Beginning to despise LIJ Maternal Fetal Medicine
How long is too long to have to wait in the waiting room? I've been waiting for 40 minutes and I only get an hour lunch break. I'm going to have to speak to my OB because I can't keep doing this.

i never went back to LIJ for my MFM appointments after the first one... it took ALL DAY! I always saw him in his office

i waited 2 hours one night!!! i was their last appointment - we went out to dinner, came back and still had to wait! it was insane. the office staff told me a technician called out sick and that is why they were backed up...but when i was finally taken the technician told me that a lot of the babies werent cooperating so the scans were taking longer than expected.
i then made there first morning appointment and still waited 40 minutes,...they claimed a technician was out. i think they just dont know how to schedule appointments.
the bright side is, they dont rush you while you are in there...they take their time until they get everything they need instead of sending you home and rescheduling.
i ultimately did end up going to another place bc i couldnt deal with the wait time and also their appointment hours were not convenient for me.

honestly, I am a practice manager for a neuro office, and I've been in the industry for over a decade... i've NEVER worked for a practice, or been to a doctor where the wait time didn't average at an hour. It sucks, but it's pretty typical. That's why I never ever ever try to squeeze visits in during lunch breaks. I either schedule for after work, or I take a half a day off.

I'm finally done! They should have the doctors do all the scanning, because the tech comes then the MF doc comes its a pain; and I was told today that I have to now go every 2 weeks for cervix lengthening checks.

My OB/gYn I am in and out within 30-40 minutes. Even my old OB during my last pregnancy visits were faster but these high risk docs moves slow.

THIS! Most doctors - at least those with good bedside manner - won't rush patients once they are in the room. So a 15 minute follow up appointment becomes a 30 minute appointment (sometimes even longer). The doctor (not the staff) determines how long he/she wants each visit to be (follow ups 15 minute, new patient 45 min, etc), and that's what you have to go by. So even if just 3 people turn out to be 30 minutes spent with the doctor instead of 15, that means the doctor is 45 minutes behind! Sometimes it's easy to know which patients will take longer, and the staff can make notes to only book the patient for 30 minutes, but sometimes you just never know. The worst is when someone calls up and says they just need to be seen for one thing, then they get in the room with the doctor and start asking about 4 other things - that's how they really get backed up.
