How did you find your doctors?
Hi All!
I am curious as to how you found your doctor and/or midwife. Also, if you could make any recommendations in the Massapequa/Wantagh/Seaford area.
DH and I had gone to the doctor last Monday for a "preconception" visit, and we were able to get a lot of questions out of the way. While there I was 100% convinced I was getting my period in a few days, well a few days passed, took a test on a whim, and now we know I am pregnant (we actually took about 4 tests because we just couldn't believe it). We like the doctor, she is very calming, but when I called back to schedule the first appointment, I found out that she doesn't do the actual birth, and she only follows through the first trimester, then she passes you over to another doctor. I would much rather be with the same doctor from start to finish, and I would rather pick the doctor. I have also heard wonderful things about midwives (unfortunately not in the area), and would love to hear if anyone has any helpful advice!

Recommended by friends. My doctor is Dr. Mesbah in Garden City. He is affiliated with winthrop.
He has been great and we are on baby #3 with him :)

How did you find your doctors?
First Congrats!!!!Ugh that sucks that she doesn't follow you throughout. I use Dr Lauren Bashian on Merrick Road in Bellmore and she is awesome. Her partner Dr Frenkel is nice too(just got off the phone with her). They deliver at LIJ in NHP.

Congrats!
I got a recommendation from here. I go to North Shore OB/GYN in Bayside. They're affiliated with LIJ. I don't have any complaints. Good Luck!

CONGRATS and WELCOME!!!
I got my recommendation on here from women. We use Women 4 Women but they are located in New Hyde Park. I like that I get to meet all the doctors before I deliver just so there are no surprised as to which doctor will show up that is on call that night.

How did you find your doctors?
Thanks ladies. I really appreciate any information and recommendation that you guys are able to give me. I am kind of at a loss here. I am the first of all of my friends to get pregnant (and my cousins). None of my husband's local friends are even married (only his college buddies who live way upstate). I feel like I really have no one to ask but people online.

I asked for a referral from my PCP and then took the two recommendations he gave me and asked for personal opinions here.
The ladies on this site seemed to be comfortable with one in particular and that's who I went with.
I couldn't be happier!!!

How did you find your doctors?
May I ask who that doctor is? My PCP recommended my current gyno, but she doesn't follow me through the entire pregnancy and birth. I'm not comfortable with that, I'd rather be with the same doctor from start to finish, this way I can build a nice relationship with them.

I was referred by a family member to Complete Women's healthcare in garden city! I absolutely love the practice!

Congrats!! I had to go to a high -risk OB, b/c of a previous late loss, and HTN, im an RN at NY PRES, so i researched and found my OB at my hospital. I love her, and never want to see anyone else. Even though i see her only, when i was having DS, I went to a welcome night, and met all the other OBs that i could possibly deliever with if she wasnt available.

Thanks all! It's been really helpful... I'm curious, Winthrop seems to have such a nice l&d dept, specifically their suites. Does anyone have experience with that hospital? Or South Nassau (as I used to work there and know their suites are nice as well)?

I went to Dr. Carinci for years as my GYN but when I got pregnant I knew I had to find an OBGYN, because she is no longer an OB....So I got the recommendation from her directly. She sent me to her previous practice in RVC, Horizon OBGYN, they deliver at South Nassau....

I looked to see who took my insurance, convenient location, I wanted one that delivered at LIJ... researched online & read reviews on here.
