saline sono results

I had the sono done 2 weeks ago, a test that I pushed to have after failed 1st round IVF. I got the results over the weekend - suspicion of broad based polyp Chat Icon
they kept telling me (I have been under RE care for a year now) that I am totally fine. Had even HSG done a year and a half ago and it came back all clear. For RE and ET and numerous upon numerous sono's for monitoring were done and no one noticed??? How is that even possible??? I am speechless and angry esp that I asked to ahve this test in the first place! This could have gone unnoticed forever as it seems.
So I called my Dr's office to check on my results and the nurse called me back saying that Dr reviewed and I need a surgery to remove. Awesome!

Anyone know how is it possible for a polyp to go unnoticed this whole time? Could have this happened in the past year and a half?

Sorry you are dealing with this. I don't know the answer to your questions. I had an HSG and they thought I had a polyp and then did a saline sono to rule it out. I think sometimes they just come out...but can't be sure. Hang in there.

A polyp could have develop in the year and a half in between the HSG and the saline sono. I was scoped and had all polyos removed in November 2011, and when I was scoped again in October 2012 I had another small one. I also had an HSG specifically to check if my tubes were open; it came back clear. Then when I had a LAP a year later, it turned out that one tube was kinked and scarred (open enough for the fluid, maybe, but not for sperm and egg).

So the moral of the story is that none of those tests are for certain, and sometimes you just have to roll with the diagnostic info as it comes. At least now you know Chat Icon

thanks!
I know its better to know what is wrong and anything could have happened in the past year and a half, as well as if anything is wrong to fix it instead of just being unexplained, but what annoyed me was that I asked to get this test and not just blindly jumping into an FET cycle like they were suggesting.
I guess if u do not advocate for urself nobody gives sh!t no matter how great of a facility it is.
just frastrating, ugh Chat Icon

Re: saline sono results

Oh i TOTALLY feel your frustration!!!!! I had HSG in the beginning and they saw a "suggestion" of something. In some of the monitoring sonos there was a "suggestion" of a polyp. Well, after 5 failed IUIs and 8 mos of being under RE care he FINALLY ordered a saline sono. Long story short, I'm having surg Friday for polyps and also a D&C for irregular lining. Sooooooooo frustrating. Why didn't we do this test 8 mos ago????

Hope all goes well with you!! Best of luck!!

The good news is that I have been reading a ton of posts on this board and others; and most of them say that they got their BFP after they had the polpys removed!!!

Re: saline sono results

I actually am going for a saline sono next cycle if I end up with a BFN this cycle because they think they saw a polyp on my sono this AM.

Did you have any symptoms???

I don't know about everyone else, but I didn't have any symptoms. IMO it should be a standard part of all the screening exams we all did in the beginning.

(TMI warning) I've actually had some mid cycle spotting. I've noticed it especially after we BD during my fertile window. I'm thinking its from the hormones in the clomid. I'm hoping its nothing and they can just deal with it.
