Do you ever feel stupid about the things you used to think say about being a mom before you became one?
Absolutely.
Something that sticks out in my mind most is that I couldn't wait to have kids because i'd never be bored. I would always be having fun/entertained.
I would kill to have a day of 'boredom' now.
I always thought negatively about kids acting out in public/bottle propping/etc.
I've eaten my words many times.

I remember going to one of DH's (then BF) softball games and kids were sliding on their butt down a dirt hill and the parents let them. I thought "I would never let my kids do something like that!"
And now, I would let them in a heartbeat if it meant they were quiet and not annoying me
I would bring them to the hill

OMG this is so true!
I always wondered why parents weren't "controlling" their screaming children in public. HA HA HA!
And I never understood scheduling your entire day's schedule around a nap before I had children!

I remember being annoyed that mommies couldn't even make it out for a girls night. I didn't get why they'd want to give up on fun & I vowed I'd still be a party girl. Now I dread invitations to go out & just want to be home with my family.

I was the worst. I never judged or said anything to other moms but I always thought I would never...
-let my kid change my schedule, they would just come along with me - ha!! -make a separate meal, if they don't like it they don't have to eat it - I realized I couldn't let a 1 yr old starve -have a kid who acts bratty, especially in public - that's a funny one!
I'm sure there are more, I had no idea!

I don't think so - I think the stuff that I said and felt strongly about I stuck to .....
I was never one to claim my kids wouldn't watch TV, or that they'd only eat organic or whatever - I know myself and our lifestyle. That's just not something that I'd get on board with.
I don't leave the house looking like I rolled out of bed, I always do my best to control my kids in public (NOT that my kids never act up, but I don't ignore the fact that they're acting up KWIM?) I STILL don't think leaving the house w/ the kids is a huge deal - (considerably more difficlut than going alone? Of COURSE, but that's obvious, I figure out a way to do it)
But I'm 100x harder on myself than I am on anyone else -
This sounds like me. In many ways I am a laid back kinda gal pre baby and post baby.
I guess there are things that I thought would be different or didn't realize how they would be is a better way to put it but I was never the type to judge parents before I am sort of live and let live (so long as your kids are loved and cared for--I judge the HELL out of negligent/abusive parents) but if someone fed their kids cheese doodles I wasn't like 'oh Id NEVER do that'
