Genetics

Just curious how many others have kids that look alike yet SO different?

Both of my kids are the spitting image of my husband. He is 100% Italian and I am mainly German and Polish. My son is blond with brown eyes so we were in SHOCK when my DD was born with almost BLACK hair! She is still much darker than my son yet looks exactly like him - she is also her daddy's twin Chat Icon

I still look at my DD and wonder how she is mine. I honestly had a moment of "that is not my baby" when they brought her to me right after she was born.

Here are my DS and DD both 8w and change. (oh and my husband, please don't quote)

Um, yeah my TWINS! We do mistake them for eachother sometimes because they have similar facial structures but different hair, eye and skintones. H looks like both of us and B looks like me. Im always amazed how siblings a few yrs apart look so similar yet my twins look so different. (And how Maria's DD looks more like H then B does Chat Icon

seriously! Then take Jack and Sophia who could easily pass for twins! Well, I guess they do have 1/2 the same exact DNA since Val and I are identical but Jack and Sophia look much more alike than Jack and Grace Chat Icon

That's funny! You are right! And they do look like each other. BTW: they are all cuties!

My DD looks like DS, DS looks like daddy, but DD looks different. Different from me too. She got some interesting mix with BIG curls and super pale skin.

That is like me and my sister! I have brown eyes and dark brown hair; my sister has blond hair and ice blue eyes. Also, she's very thin and I'm...ummm...not Chat Icon All the time assorted people would stop us individually and ask if we had a sister because they had seen the other one of us elsewhere. We are very close in age too--in elementary school we were known as the "McXxxx twins!" Once I was looking at a picture of myself thinking I looked very good in it...only to realize it was her (her hair was somewhat darker then and the lighting in the photo must have been off...)!! The only person who thinks we look nothing alike is my mother...go figure!
