Please recommend your pediatric neurologist
I am looking to get DS evaluated for a helmet. I called to make an appointment with Dr. Mittler and they said he doesn't take my insurance. Is it worth it to go out of network with him or are there any other drs. just as good?

Love Dr. Mittler just saw him for a follow up today. I did pay out of pocket but he was worth it. He was not covered under my insurance either.

I'm starting to wonder if anyone is covered. I checked my insurance website and the only ones that are under the plan are in NJ....strange because my insurance is so good. It's necessary to see a neurologist first right? How often do they follow up?

Please recommend your pediatric neurologist
We saw Dr. Mittler, he is a neurosurgeon, not just neurologist. We were also concerned about my sons head shape and thought he would need a helmet. Turns out he didn't, Dr. Mittler said it wasn't necessary at all. We loved him, he was very thorough! Because he didn't take insurance, it was a set visit fee, I think $400. But since he didn't think my son needed a helmet, he didn't even recommend a follow up visit, which was good.

I did a one year follow up and was very surprised at how little they charged me. His office is great, we waited for maybe 5 minutes in the waiting room and then 5 minutes most in the office for him to come in. He is very thorough and answered all our questions.

check with your insurance. if there are none locally, you might be able to get them to pay a local doc as in-network because there are none actually in-network locally. they can override the policy for stuff like that.

We saw Dr. Mittler. I think, at the time, he only took HIP insurance. When I got the bill in the mail, I called and asked if they could take less since I was paying out of pocket & they did. I think I ended up paying about half.

We called to see Dr. Mittler too and he wasn't in our insurance plan. I gave the receptionist my insurance and she told me which doctors in that practice took the insurance. We ended up seeing Dr. Fefer and she was great!

Just realized I was searching wrong on the insurance co website and rosenn is in network. Has anyone had any experience with him evaluating and saying your LO didn't need a helmet?

He told me to wait and see. THen on the follow up he suggested agaisnt it. said the flat spot had improved and he personally would not do it but he did have parents that wanted a perfect head. At our last visit he said it improved so much he could barely see it.
He is def not a rush to helmet. But there is a window of time for one to work so I think he is very realistic on things.
