17 month DS Bowlegged
Today we had our well check up and my pediatrician was a little concerned about my DS Bowlegged, he wants us to see a specialist, but now I'm concerned about surgery or braces for his legs.
Did anyone ever go through this? What happened? Did it correct itself?
My DS started walking at 11 months. I heard it usually corrects itself after 6 months of walking.

I would call a pediatric orthopedist in the LIJ north shore system
My son has severe intoeing - one foot is always at least 30 degrees from straight
anyway when I called them they told me they no longer see kids until age 4 because 99 percent of the cases are fixed without treatment. We had previously seen Dr. Lewis and he said we could put braces on his feet they may work or they may not. But was non-committal about it. So when I was supposed to go back for a follow up I tried to switch to a north shore/lij doc and they don't accept patients for that. So I liked the idea that most treatment didn't help and waiting does not hurt

We don't have that issue but we have a foot issue on my son. When we saw the orthpedist he said that we should let him be. Our Physical therapist wanted him to get orthotic braces which we did. It's a hard decision when people give different opinions...but def go toDr.

DS has this problem with and we are seeing a specialist at Winthrop on Friday. Our ped. recommended him when I brought it up.

Dr. Gaffney is who we saw. Was not the friendlyist man but he is know to be the BEST!!
The exam rooms are VERY SMALL for double stroller so make sure you can have someone stay with MIA

Thanks, we went today. He wasn't the friendliest, like you said, but very professional. We have to go back in 4 months for another x-ray.
