Does anyone 's doctor not give meds for ear infections?
Just curious.
DD had one..she was one omnicef for the 10 days, but i have a feeling one of her ears is still infected...i really hate to bring her back to dr. and put her on another 10 days of antibiotics..i mean, what if she REALLY gets sick and really needs antibiotics.
I read that most ear infections clear on their own..thoughts?
She is not in any severe pain, but she touches her one ear more than normal.

Have you tried the hylands ear medicine? It is OTC.

Well I think your situation is a bit different bc she was on one already. She might need a stronger one. My ped does not give one originally unless certain things are going on. My older DD had one minor one that we let go and it took care of itself. Usually they will resolve in a few days if it is viral. But if you have been on 10 days of meds and still have one it probavly isn't viral. I think viral ones clear in 4-7 days. But you are right that many are viral not bacterial.

Yes, it worked for my son. None of the antibiotics worked for him and made him sicker (diarrhea). I called our ped and spoke with him about it before giving it and got his ok. I would call your ped to let them know before using them to get their opinion on it.

if fever is under 100, its not likely bacterial and so antibiotics should not be prescribed. Bacterial infections come with high fevers usually, but let doc check them out, there are few other signals for bacterial vs viral.
nothing to be done for viral infection
