Meeting other mom's

So being a first time mother and having a child earlier than most of my friends I feel that I don't know any other mom's. Most of my friends don't have children yet. I will be going back to work soon but only part time so I thought it would be good to start meeting other moms. But the question is where and how? Where did you meet other mom's? I plan on taking more walks with DS when it gets warmer to the park and what not but any other suggestions? I feel so lame but it would be nice to have someone to talk to sometimes, even just to meet at the park, you know? How did you meet other mom's? Thanks!

I met some good friends from mommy and me classes and from here!

The library! It's so nice to get to talk to other moms and see your LO's interact. We started doing the programs when DD was 4 months. The library works since you'll meet moms from your neighborhood with children the same age.

I'm actually meeting another mom today from this board. We posted about the pediatrician and ended up emailing about it since we are from the same neighborhood. Where are you from?

I would like to take some mommy and me classes but have to go back to work so I'm not sure timing works out
I was told to check out Barnes and noble on the weekends...a lot of moms with kids although they might be older

I agree with pp about the library, parks and just a walk around the neighborhood. I've become friendly with two other moms on my street by just meeting them while being out for a walk.

It's kind of like high school, some people you will click with right away and others it may take some time. Either way, you'll be fine.

i just try to smile, compliment their LO (who doesn't love that ) and that gets the ball rolling.

Im in the same boat as you. Im the last one of my friends to get married but the first to have a baby. My friends aren't even thinking of having a baby anytime soon. I moved to Levittown last year from Williston Park. I work in Williston Park as a teacher. I am waiting for the summer to start to be able to get out and do things with my DS. During our spring break I am taking him to a free trial of the little gym to see if he likes it before we sign up. I'm going to start looking for things at the library. I can definitely tell you I feel the same you do. Its so hard to meet other new moms when your child isn't in school yet!

I met mommy friends at classes at library and a mommy and me class at cmee called baby bliss ( I live on east end)

I dont know if they run mingling moms anymore but my sister met a bunch of friends very early on through it - all in the same neighborhood

The library programs are great. My DS is 9 and we still see people that we met at "Tot Time". For us it really was the start to building a strong community bond.

I moved to NC a few months and have met moms through meetup.com, mommy and me classes, children events, and even here on LIF ( hey Drmom :)).

the library classes! Once DD turned 3 and was in preschool I started making friends with some of the moms and we had playdates. That was 2 years ago and I am still close with 2 of the woman - I consider them pretty good friends of mine!

Library classes and met a lot of moms on here when my son was born.
I also belong to meetup.
