Need cake help!
DS is having the Fun Bus come to the house Saturday for his 3rd birthday. The invitations had a school bus theme, the thank you cards will match. The favors are pastic boxes personalized with the kids names on the front and a big yellow school bus on top. They're filled with a couple of goodies- a rainbow lollipop with a "masons birthday bus" sticker, alphabet cookies, bubbles, a Sesame Street first-day-of-school book, Hershey kisses and playdoh. I'm making cupcakes tomorrow and I have a couple of ideas... I can frost them yellow and pipe the outline of a bus in black. I can frost them brown and make a yellow school bus. I can go simple and frost them either yellow or brown and just leave them plain. Or I can attempt to make a cupcake cake. It would look like a big school bus cake, but pull apart as individual cupcakes. I found directions for one and it seems doable, though slightly ambitious.

I'm a pastry chef, pull apart cupcake is very doable just fill in any holes before you ice the whole top, otherwise icing will fall through as it sits out :)

Re: Need cake help!
How do I fill in holes? Or do I just make sure the cupcakes are really tight together? And should I frost it and smooth it with a spatula? Or should I frost it with a pastry bag? What tip would you use?

I don’t know any tip; I just love the cake that’s why I open this thread.
