Did anyone try block feeding?

DD is almost 5 months and seems to be working this out on her own. She will eat on one side for 5 min and cry and fuss still I switch her and then she is content! This goes back and forth all day and I am noticing a trend of right or left being favored each feeding. Should I attempt transitioning to one side per feeding? Is it hard or did you experience any crazy engorgement? I just worry about the a.m. when I am very full and need her to nurse both sides for relief!

I had a problem with foremilk/hindmilk inbalance and tried block feeding. I am still doing in without issue. The first few feedings I leaked a lot but within 1 day or so my body adjusted. I never got that engorged either.

I also had a problem with foremilk/hindmilk imbalance and did block feeding for about a week. For me, it sucked. I would get terribly engorged and DD became a whole lot fussier and by the end of the week, I didn't notice any improvement in my imbalance. I went back to normal feeding though and apparently the block feeding worked because the imbalance cleared up.

I had to pump a few times while block feeding just to relieve the pressure on the side DD didn't feed on, so you can do that if need be. Just don't drain the breast or else it will defeat the purpose of trying to regulate your supply.

Ok awesome thanks. How did you know you had an imbalance? From weird green poopy diapers or were there other signs?

Also I didn't know it can fix itself?

DD had green frothie poops but I only realized it was an imbalance when I pumped and noticed the milk didn't separate - it was all foremilk.
