mom's of girls - make up ?
Just curious, when did you or when do you think it's appropriate to let then play with real eye shadows? Not to wear out, just to play with in your home. TIA

mom's of girls - make up ?
my daughter is 2 1/2. she has a vanity and has real make up brushes and empty make up things that she loves to use. i let her put lip gloss on when im with her. we paint her nails. i see nothing wrong with them playing with make up when they are home.

My DD is 4.5 and we got her a vanity at age 2 that she still LOVES and plays with daily. She has real make-up brushes, hair things, and kid jewelry but no real "kid" make-up...........just pretend things.
I honestly don't like the idea of her smearing her face with make-up at this age, it would be a big mess and knowing her, she would want to put it on EVERY day and I'm just not a fan. When she's older I will think about it but now, she's too young IMO and she's content with the pretend stuff.

Well, my 2 year old grabbed my mascara and tried to put it on, but I don't plan on *letting* her play with makeup. There's a lot of stuff in makeup that can irritate a child's sensitive skin.

My DD is 6 and I would probably let her now if she showed an interest. I'd just let her play with my stuff under my supervision, the kiddie stuff scares me.

My DD is 7 and I do not let her play with real makeup. Occasionally for a special occasion I will allow her to wear a little bit of my light colored sparkley eye shadow and some lip gloss, but I do not allow her to apply it herself as I think it is somewhat dangerous. Eyes are very sensitive and she is also very prone to pink eye. It's just a no-no for me and probably will be for a very long time!
