anyone with a toddler with reflux?

ds#2 is 13 months old.

He had bad reflux as a baby and was on prilosec compound form until he was 8 months where we were able to wean him off the meds. Ever since then, he's let out tiny cries in his sleep, but nothing terrible.

But now he's 13 months old. On all table foods and whole milk.

His little cries are now screams during the night. It seems when we give mylanta at bedtime, he's a bit better but by 4:30 am... he's restless, letting out cries while sleeping, etc etc.

My ped also thinks his ear infections are from his reflux as well (all connected).

just curious as to those with toddlers and reflux... what's their story? how did you know the reflux was acting up? did you have to put them back on meds??

My daughter had really bad reflux as a baby...she was first on Zantac and then Axid...we weaned her off around 13 months. Just last month at 18 months we ended up in the hospital bc she was vomiting blood. When we were there, they did endoscopy biopsy to see if they could find the cause of the bleeding. Unfortunately they could not find the cause of the bleeding but through the scope they found that she still had really bad reflux. Bc she is significantly underweight and really not growing they put her back on medication to help with the reflux and see if it will help with her gaining weight. They put her on Lansoprozole (prevacid). They said as of now she will be on indefinitely. She is one 2x a day. I really dont like having her on medication all the time, but she also used to have some crying spells at night, and since we started the medication about a month ago, those really stopped. i hope you get some answers soon! As an adult I do not have reflux so I have no idea, but I have a friend who has it and she said that is horrible and so uncomfortable

My son was on meds until 20 months old. He is now 3 . I thought his reflux was back too. He had an endoscopy done last April. He was 2.5 years old. It came back clear. He still will cry or moan in his sleep. I think it may be the dairy. We had him tested for allergies right after his 3rd birthday. He had a milk protein allergy and soy allergy from birth. No more milk allergy but he is till allergic to soy. He may have a dairy intolerance. I have noticed on days where he has more dairy, his sleep is interrupted.

The scope is not bad for them. It is definitely worse on us. My son did great with it. He is small for his age too.

If they had said he was still refluxing, I would have put him back on meds. I have GERD and I know how it feels.. There are days I want to cry from the pain..
