NB moms question about sleep

Sorry for all the questions you'd think I never had kids before
What is your sleep routine with your NB during the day?
D you just put them down awake after feeding? And if so how long does it take for them to fall asleep?
How long after a feeding are they awake?
Where do they nap?

NB moms question about sleep

I hold DS all day (probably bad, but I'm trying to get as much of him as possible before I go back to work). He sleeps on me all day. We've put him down a few times, but he has to really be sleeping on order to stay down. If he's awake, he'll cry. With that being said, if he's down and wakes up, I let him try to entertain himself a bit. He doesn't have a schedule or routine! I want to introduce one in a few weeks when he is awake more. He is 3 weeks now- I will introduce a schedule around 6 weeks.

The "Eat, Activity, Sleep" schedule is what i was told is best for kids but for very young babies, it won't work - they just eat & sleep all day so there's no time for playtime.

Now (at 4 months old), i put DS in his crib when he looks tired and he generally falls asleep within 5-10 minutes. Sometimes though, he really fights it and it takes half an hour or so (he doesn't cry during this - just "complains")

DS will be 4 weeks on Thursday. I wouldn't say we have a sleep "routine" during the day. It's more like...let him sleep whenever he will fall asleep! I think he's too young for a routine.

After feedings, I (or DH) tends to hold him for about a half hour to make sure he doesn't spit up. By then, he's either fallen back to sleep or going to be awake for a while.

At night, we just started putting him in his crib, but I can't put him down until he's in a deep sleep. If he's still awake, he'll usually cry if I put him down in his crib and I think he's too young to let him cry.

During the day after a feeding, if he looks tired I will try him in his swing. He sometimes falls asleep, giving me time to shower or eat or go on LIF! Otherwise, he will sleep on me or once in a while in the bouncer. He doesn't nap much during the day, though, so I usually just hold him a lot. The only sure way to get him down during the day is to put him in his stroller and take a walk or car ride, but even that's tough since it's been so cold out recently.
