Infant poo question

I know BF babies are supposed to have "seeds" in their stool. Lately, my 10 week old has been passing hard seeds. They are like little sharp crumbs - dry and hard. I called the Dr. and she said this can be normal. I don't know... I have never heard or seen of this.

He doesn't seem to be that bothered and there isn't any blood (yet...praying none appears!).

We do have other issues - he has reflux and lately has had mucus. Excema is the latest thing (it has been a blast around here!). But I am doing the elimination diet to try to figure out the issue. Again, the dr. doesn't seem concerned about any of this.

Has anyone else experienced this? Should I press the issue?

Don't have any advice -- but let us know what the ped says. DS has the opposite problem -- I feel like some of his diapers are not "seedy" enough and are too dark brown.

So, the Dr passed my question to the nurse. The nurse said this was a good sign the Dr didn't see it as an issue. The nurse said as long as he is not screaming in pain, doesn't have a fever, etc..I should just keep an eye on it. Babies bowel movements frequently change week to week.

I saved some of the dry seeds for his next drs appt. hopefully it is nothing! Alyssa - I hope yours is the same. I am learning to wait a week on things and usually they pass. It isn't easy though!

My son is not BF but about a month ago his sitter told me he passed hard white lumps. I googled it and freaked out thinking it was some gall bladder issue.
His next bm was hard yellowish lumps (2 or 3) then after that it was loose and brown. (TMI?) Anyway, I chalked it up to him not having molars and not being able to chew properly. Maybe a temporary blockage. Since then I make sure he gets plenty of fluids and it has'nt happened since. DS is 13mos now.

Thank you Wendy and Gina. I have to bring him in for a weight check in two weeks and I'll bring the sample then. I am of course, hoping its nothing....
