How far along...
were your when you told extended family/friends?
I'll be 7 weeks on Tuesday and its getting hard not to tell people...I'm very superstitious though and it took 2 yrs to get here so I'm hesitant but I feel like I can't fully enjoy my pregnancy if no one else around me knows.
On the other hand I feel as though I'm jumping the gun and still so much can happen this early...I'm torn.
I think both of my parents my explode if they can't tell someone other than each other soon
eta: I realize its a personal decision but any insight would be helpful!! I'm just curious how you felt and what you did.
Thanks!!

I think that is a personal decision. Everyone believes things differently when it comes to that. Personally, im telling people as soon as i get a positve blood test.

I told on Christmas Day, I was about 7 weeks. It's really a personal decision.

Re: How far along...
I told right away when I first got pregnant- I was so excited.
Then I lost the baby and had to UNTELL everyone and it was sooo hard. I would wait to see the heartbeat at the first visit which should be very soon.

Re: How far along...
We told parents, siblings, grandma - 5 days after testing (my parents were away so we wanted to tell them all at the same time!). I was 5 weeks. We told bestest (is that a word??) friends a few weeks later. Rest of the world - at 11 1/2 weeks after we saw the 1st sonogram
We told our bestest friends early because if g-d forbid something were to happen, we would ewant them to be there for us anyway

I believe bestest is NOW a word
We saw the heartbeat yesterday and we have u/s's every week bc we are currently at an RE and will not be released to our OB/GYN for several weeks. I think since we saw the heartbeat yesterday and were told everything looked great that I will tell extended family next weekend at 8 weeks and maybe friends at about 10-12 weeks to be on the safer side.
Thanks everyone for sharing

Good luck! It is very emotional telling everyone. I think for me, since I am daddy's little girl, that was the toughest. Best of luck to you and have fun!

DH and I are not telling anyone till i'm about 12 weeks. we're being kind of old fashioned with the issue and don't want to jump the gun.

Re: How far along...
I suffered a loss at 13 weeks before this pregnancy, so I was extremely leery about spreading the news when I got pregnant again.
Once I saw the heartbeat, I told our parents and inlaws, maybe 2 close friends and my bro/sil. Everyone else (including extended family), I generally waited until I passed the 12 week point.
As we've all said.. it was a personal decision, neither right or wrong. I just knew I could not bear to tell a LARGE group of people again if something went wrong this time, as I had to do the first time. So yes, I was probably overly cautious this go-around.

Re: How far along...
12 weeks (1st baby) & 10 weeks (2nd baby). My reasoning was that I didn't want to have my family excited and then disappointed if it didn't work out. I would have told them if I mc'd but since they wouldn't have known it wouldn't have been such a letdown.
Also my mother & MIL can't keep their mouths shut. For their own wellbeing & our relationship, I thought it was too much of a burden for them to keep it a secret. So I waited until everyone could know.

Re: How far along...
We didn't tell extended family and friends until 12 weeks or so. I had a m/c before gianna and I didn't want everyone knowing god forbid something happened again.
My parents were going to explode too, but i kept reminding them they are adults and adults need to keep secrets. I also told them that if they didn't keep quiet, I wouldn't tell them until i was out of the 1st trimester with the second one.
It was hard but they kept their mouths shut until i gave them the okay, then they told everyone, including waiters, waitresses, their hairstylists!! It was quite funny

Re: How far along...
I told my mom, mil, brother and best friend after I had a beta confirm the HPT. I didn't tell anyone else until 13 weeks! I had a lot of spotting throughout the 1st trimester and the doctor felt I was high risk for a miscarriage and strongly advised I don't tell too many people. I don't know if I would have told earlier if I wasn't spotting, I'm a worry wart and always expect the worst so I probably would have waited anyway.
Do what feels right!!!

Re: How far along...
My first pregnancy, we told people as soon as we knew (7 weeks). Family, friends, work - everyone! Unfortunately, it resulted in a MC, so I was mortified to have to tell everyone that I was no longer pregnant.
This time, I told my DH right away (obviously). Then at about 12 weeks, we told our parents (on Mother's Day), but asked them to still keep quiet. Then, a few weeks later, we allowed them to start telling family. Then we told people at church. Then, finally I announced it at work.
I liked doing it gradually because I felt like I was always walking around with good news. Try it that way - with telling your closest people first.
I am happily now 20 weeks and could shout it on a mountain!!!

Re: How far along...
We told our parents at 6 weeks but swore them to secrecy.
Told everyone else around 9 weeks after the first appointment.
Told work at the 12 week mark.

Re: How far along...
My sister and 4 friends (who knew we were TTC) as soon as I got my BFP, parents at 9 weeks, family at 12 weeks then everyone after that. Since we were having twins and it is so high risk I wanted to go for our sono at 11 weeks to confirm everything was ok before telling everyone.

Re: How far along...
two seconds after my dr confirmed my beta. It took two years to get there due to surgery to remove a cyst the size of a football where they had to remove and reattach an ovary. This surgery happened one month after my wedding!
