"I don't like mommy"
I don't know what happened to my my sweet 3 yr old. I wrote in another post about his sleeping issues and now he seems to be fighting me on everything. Yelling no to everything when he used to just go with the flow. Bath time no issues or sleep. Even gettin dressed. Now he fights me on everything. Literally starting the last few days. Now he doesn't want to wear underwear or the shirt, etc. He will be 4 the end of May. What's with this sudden change in behavior and fighting me on everything. He never yelled he doesn't like me and it hurts. I know he doesn't mean it then wants to hug when he calms down, but I don't get it. This is so not like him. He's always been the easy and sweet one. Of course not perfect 100 percent of the time, but never this bad or mean. He's fine and sweet to others. Still starting with the No to lots of things though.

Re: "I don't like mommy"
I wish you lived closer - We'd be BFFs
Sean has been pulling this for a while. That's his standard response when he gets upset it's "Don't look at me" "Don't talk to me" "I donlt like you"
It doesn't matter how many times I tell him he's hurting my feelings or that's not nice to say, or how would he feel if I told him that - etc etc. He's been at it now for about a year .....he'll be 4 in April.
Now I respond (Immature as it may be) "I'm not looking at you" "I don't want to talk to you when you're behaving like this anyway" "I don't like it when you are mean to me"

Lol
Awe... I totally agree. We do see eye to eye on a lot. That's funny bc I have very similiar responses too. Ugh! This age used to be fun.

Re: "I don't like mommy"
I just take it as they don't know how to properly vocalize that they don't like your answer, actions or reasoning because they want what they want-and now. DS (4) can go from "I love you mommy, you're my best friend." to "You're mean, I don't like you anymore." in a matter of minutes. Usually it's because I said no to something or he's being fresh and I told him to stop doing whatever he's doing.
He's recently started to tell me, "I'm so frustrated!" which is a little better, but I think it's just the age and immaturity in phrasing. You have to just let it roll off your back and not take it personally. I think of it as now being a good time to fine tune my responses for when they are teenagers.
