I hate thinking about this, I have too. With the 3rd coming, we are going to purchase more life insurance.
We bought 20 yr term life ins 10 yrs ago. So we want to buy another 20 yr term life ins policy for me and DH.
If you don't mind sharing, how much are you paying for 20 yr term life insurance at ages 35 - 39 for 250,000? And with what company?
I got a quote and I thought it was high.

I just got a $1 million policy for myself - 20 year term for $52/month with Northwestern. I'm 34 years old.

I don't fit into your age or amount range, but for whatever it's worth for comparison (we JUST did this last week):
Me: age 33, 500k policy, National Life Group, $29/month, 20yr term
DH: age 33, 1 Mil policy, National Life Group, $71/month, 20yr term
Not sure whether DH's line of work is a factor/high -risk or anything like that (he's a cop).

We have a $1 million dollar policy for both DH and myself so god forbid, the house is paid for and there is money left over.
We pay I believe for that alone $339 every 6 months. We got it probably about 5-6 years ago when we were 28 & 29

We just took out a $250k policy for 20 years and we pay about $230- $250 a year each. It's through the nys CPA society that I am a member of.

male excellent health non smoker 250,000 20 year term
35 yo 225.00 per year
39 yo$270.00 per year
For $500000 same as above
35 yo $305 per year
39 yo $385 per year
