When baby won't nap...
My DS is 17 days old and hardly naps at all! If I'm lucky, I can get him down for a "nap" around 6pm. The dr said most kids fall back asleep after they're done eating - but not my DS! Anyone experience this? I'm worried he doesn't sleep enough, but I'm also out of ideas with what to do with him during the day. It makes showering, eating, cleaning, or napping for myself impossible!
ETA: I can put him in the crib or swing for a while and he just makes noises and entertains himself usually for a half hour, but then he's up again and wanting to be held or fed. If I followed his cues, he'd be eating all day long!

My DS was like that --5 or 10 minute naps here and there during the day. Would nap longer if someone was holding him. I got nothing done during his first 4 months. He started napping 45 minutes or longer stretches at 4 months. He had reflux and milk protein allergy so I don't know if that impacted his sleep. Hes still very active and high maintenance. Have you tried swaddling and white noise in a darkened room? That helps DD.
It might also just be his age, they eat so frequently then, but he should be increasing the amount he eats and being able to go through 2-3 hours between meals.
When you feed him, do you try to wake him up, encourage him to eat more? DD used to fall asleep after 2 or 3 mins. I'd let her rest for maybe a min and then I would stroke her cheek, change her diaper, take her clothes off, whatever was necessary to get in a full feed. I would try all of these tactics before ending the feeding session.

These are my questions as well. It is also really good advice.

DS has no trouble eating. At just over 2 weeks old, he's taking just under 4 oz per feeding.
I try the swing, swaddled, pacifier and white noise, but he's just so alert!
I am a little concerned about reflux. What signs should I be looking for? A few minutes ago I heard him in his swing choking on nothing so I ran in. He wasn't spitting anything up, but he was definitely uncomfortable and "choking" on something. I picked him up and he's now sleeping on my lap.
