Birthday Party in your house - how many kids is too many?

Hi,
My daughter will be 5 in April and has told me she wants a my little pony party in the house. Now, last year we had a house party with 8 kids and that was fine. But this year, she wants to invite her class (20+ kids). Am I crazy to think that I can accommdate 20+ kids in my house?

I'd much rather have it a place with this many kids, but my daughter seems pretty adament about having it at home.

What do you think?

I would NEVER buuuuuuut I am an organized, neat freak when it comes to my house............I couldn't handle the chaos of that many kids in my home. A backyard party I could handle, not indoors though. No way.

We had about 40 kids at our house last year. It was too many. We had only been in our newly built house for about a month. DH was about spills but we had fun. I hired a party planner and good entertainment so it was an organized party. A few of my childless friends came and helped and we also had our nanny helping out.

Then we had a Halloween party and invited DS's preschool class. We also invited siblings and had +/-20 kids. We did not have any help or entertainment. It was chaos! It was fun chaos but DH did not like cleaning up afterwards. He is a neat freak.

Can you invite just the girls in the class?

The problem isn't really too many kids, it's the parents that stay with them. That's what makes it overwhelming.

The problem with that is the "what if it rains?" factor.
10 kids in a house is too many for me.

I'm going to try to convince her to have it at a place. I just can't fathom having that many kids in my house at one time! I could take my chances with being able to have it outside, but I don't know....

I'm already stressed just thinking about this!

How about a back room at a pizza place? You can still keep it casual and do everything you would do at home without the hassle of cleaning it all up!

With that said, I will be having my DS party at the house in a few weeks. We invited 22 kids. fortunately they will only be inside to eat. We have the Fun Bus coming for an hour, then the kids will come back inside, eat pizza and cake picnic style on my living room floor, have cupcakes and then I want them out!

DON'T DO IT!!! It took me 3 days to clean everything, I had kids climbing up my walls literally like spiderman, cotton candy in some of the birthday bags...one child left my house crying because the parents couldn't find his shoes and had to leave shoeless I eventually found them the next day. These are just a few of my experiences having it home. This was a summer party and I planned on having it out but heavy rain and I said I'll have it indoors. Never again!

Thanks everyone for your responses. My DD seems to like the idea of a carousel party at Nunley's Carousel in Garden City (to keep with the whole pony theme). So I'm hoping to have it there!
