How did you get your LO back in their crib?

When DS was an infant we never coslept. He was never a great sleeper but since I was home with him until he was a year old I just got up, gave him the bottle etc.

When I went back to work (he was @ a year old) we started putting him in our bed when he would wake at 2 or 3 am.

Well this progressed into him never wanting the crib, he was sick a couple times and we let him fall asleep in the bed and now he will not go into his crib.

The good thing about him in the bed is he STTN.

BUT the other night we were watching TV and he fell out of out bed while we were in the other room, our bed is very high so it was scary. So now we feel we NEED to get him back in his crib.

He is 16 months...should be just do his toddler bed at this point? Maybe he will like that more than the crib?

We are at a loss. he screams until he pukes when we put him in the crib

I had a similar experience with my DD. she's been in a toddler bed since she was about 18 months old. I had to put a gate up at her door so she wouldn't roam the house, but she's a great sleeper now! It took about 2-3 nights of whining for like 10 min and now she's fine. She did throw up the first night but I just changed her sheets and (thank goodness had an extra comforter from my DS) and changed her pjs and told her mommy is here and I love her and will see her in the morning. Goodluck! I hope u get ur bed back! I know how hard that is!

we lay on dd's floor, next to her crib until she falls aslerp. not ideal, but it got her back in there

Thanks girls. Going away this weekend and when we get back operation toddler bed will commence I suppose

I will miss having him there but the fear of him falling out of the bed when he are not in there with him is too much.

I have the same problem- only it's been going on for a year and a half- it started with throwing up whenever we put her in her crib after a trip to Cali when she was 15m.

I would stay in her room until she fell asleep. Now she has a toddler bed and she just gets up and comes into our room and I give up easily and just let her stay. Most of the time she just comes to bed with me since I'm exhausted and will just fall asleep in the rocking chair while waiting for her to fall asleep.

I thought about putting up a gate to keep her in her room- but she's potty trained and I want her to be able to get to the bathroom
