New Mommy to the Boards.....question

How long does your newborn sleep in between feedings? I know newborns sleep a long time, but I feel she sleeps so long in between.

First, congrats on the new baby! I know this isn't much of an answer, but it varies from baby to baby and day to day. If your baby is gaining weight appropriately, then I wouldn't wake them to feed them. DD is 14 months now, but it wasn't until like 5 or 6 months that she stayed up longer than 45 minutes at a time.

My LO is 2 weeks....and she really doesn't stay up for more than an hour at a time. Maaayyybbbeeeee 1 1/2 max. Sometimes she wakes up...eats...and falls right back asleep. I was waking her up to eat...but my Ped told me last week to not do that and just let her sleep. But during the day I will wake her up if it's almost 4 hrs and she hasn't eaten.

DD was doing 4-5 hour stretches at 6 days old! I stopped waking her to eat unless it went past 5 hours. If you are BFing be sure to pump or else you may get super engorged and mastitis like I did :(

In the very beginning DD would go 4+ hrs in between feedings. I was BFing. I never woke her.

Looking back, I feel that the long stretches in the first few weeks hurt my milk supply, so for that reason I wish I did wake her up so she could eat more frequently. But she gained weight like a champ so I didn't "need" to.
