ds seems fine so not sure if we should give him anything! but his cough is persistent . onto day 5 now....

Otherwise nope.. I give nothing. Unless its post nasal drip then probably her allergy meds but we generally give her allergy meds so its not new to us. But just a dry cough, then just honey

Dry cough can lead to irration and then infection so I'd try to soothe it as much as I could.

Tylenol maybe to ease the pain. Doc told me that once when we took her in that our tylenol, honey thing helped to keep the infection IN her throat instead of making it into an upper respritory infection... *Shrug*

There's really no medicine for coughs. If he's playing fine, he's not too sick and this will run its course.

You're right, NO HONEY before 12 months, it's not safe. You can try using a humidifier in the room because the dry air is probably making his cough worse. Also, there's a Vicks rub for babies - it's pretty much just a scented sticky moisturizer but some people like it a lot for their babies.

At that age you can't give him anything. A cough is so annoying too. Poor kid. I would definintely run a humidifier at night.

There really isn't anything you CAN give at that age- not even the honey elixirs because they need to be at least 1 year old before having honey.

I agree with the honey elixir and at night a cool mist humidifier to add moisture to the air. Also try a saline nasal mist.

nope, only run the humidifier at night. I only give meds if he has a fever, is uncomfortable from teething or has antibiotics from the doc.
