how do i prepare for injections

I am such a big baby when it comes to needles & I'm freaking a bit at the thought of it... What do you do to distract yourself?

I'm planning to have dh do it for me..Do you do it yourself or have someone do it for you?

when you are doing the IUI, do you know if you have to do it every single day or is it just for a certain amount of time?

how do i prepare for injections

I did ivf and never did iui's. my DH did every shot. He would prep everything and I would literally walk up, pull up my shirt, and he would give me the shot. It's very quick and easy! Don't stress about it as it won't help things and good luck!!!

Re: how do i prepare for injections

I did every single shot myself. I preferred it that way because I could control how fast I injected it, which was important since some of them needed to be injected slowly to ensure that they did not sting.

When I did IVF, I had a time range (6-9), but I tried to keep it as close to the same time as possible.

The first shot was the hardest - took me 15-20 minutes to get up the courage to inject myself, after that it was easy!

I only use the trigger and DH does it for me every cycle. I can't do it myself as of yet

I too never did iui and went straight to ivf. I did all of my injections except for the ones that were in my backside. The first night I was a little nervous but it got really easy really quickly.

This!!!! I wouldn't let DH near me with a needle but I am a nurse so it's a little easier for me. My ass does look like a pin cushion falling apart thanks to PIO!

Re: how do i prepare for injections

I just started injectables (Follistim) Sat for this months IUI cycle. Its not that bad. I took injectable class at RE office. You have a window between 5p-9p every night. As long as you take it within there you are fine. Does not have to be exactly the same time, although I try to. I do them myself, don't think I would trust DH with it, he'd probably do it wrong LOL. I give it to myself in the stomach, at least 1 inch away from belly button. RE said you can do it in the thigh too, but they prefer patients do it in the stomach. To tell you the truth, I don't really feel the needle go in, or the medication when I inject. Best way to do it, take a breath and like a dart...fast. No pain Chat Icon

I have to do it every night, and I have been monitored more closely than with the clomid. I've had sono & bloodwork Sat, Tues, and go again on Thurs. RE said they have to have you come in every few days to monitor just in case dose needs to be changed and to make sure you are not overstimulating.

Good Luck!!

Re: how do i prepare for injections

i'm going to try it and be brave. I don't know that i'll be able to do it myself, so hopefully by the time DH gets home at night is not too late & will do it, though there are some days that he might not be able to.
I tried watching a video on it before and nearly got sick, but this is something I need to get over..i know...
