DD was born with a full head of dark hair! Chat Icon
I couldn't believe it, I was a baldie and always pictured her that way.

Now at 5 weeks, she is noticeably balding (I know, totally normal). She is looking like an old man with a big bald spot on the top and still pretty thick on back and sides.

My question is - what was your experience with infant balding?

Did it grow back the same color, texture, etc (She is straight now, do you think she could get curls like me?)

Did your LO loose all the hair or just the top part? Were they totally bald on top or just thinned out?

Approx when did the hair start growing back?

Just curious, I am so used to her with hair now, its weird to think I may have a baldie afterall!

At around 3 months, DD had lost patches of hair all over. She too was born with a full head of hair. I think it started growing back around 5 months, and not it looks like a whirlpool in the middle. Chat Icon

Infant Balding

DD went almost completely bald with 2 or 3 strands in the front (it was like a comb over). It started growing back at about 6 months or so. She's almost 9 months and it's still pretty short, but it's growing.

ETA; Her hair grew back a lot ligthter than when she was born.

DS was born with light brown hair, tons and it all fell out within a few weeks. By 4-5 weeks, it all started coming back in BLONDE!

DD was just born with a full head of DARK almost black hair (shocker, like you) and I am also wondering if it will fall out and come in lighter. She is 2 weeks today, i've noticed her hair on her and me so some is falling out for sure.

Re: Infant Balding

My Dd was born with very little hair then the poor thing lost that too!! It was on the top so it wasnt rubbing off from laying. It grew back darker but I know babies who have had it grow back lighter. she has always had darker eyelashes and brows though. Oddly the hair that didnt fall out around the lower back of her head is still auburn.

Re: Infant Balding

Both the twins were born with full heads of hair, but baby B's was longer. Baby A was brown and Baby B was a darker brown and it curled when it was wet.

They both went completely bald except for some fuzz, and baby B kept a mohawk.

They were at the height of their baldness at 5 months old/3 months adjusted.

Baby A now has blonde/red hair and it is still very short. Baby B has light brown hair and it is VERY long and does not curl.

Re: Infant Balding

My daughter's hair thinned out significantly (no bald patches) and went from a reddish blonde to straight up blonde which is what she had when she was born. My son didn't start off with a ton of a hair (except for a wicked cowlick up front like a spitcurl) and it has grown in and lightened up.

I'd say by 6 months it just started growing in a lot for both.
