December babies
My daughter's birthday is December 9th and she misses Long Island cut off date for Kindergarten by 8 days. I mean seriously? I am NYC school teacher and the cut off date is December 31st? My daughter is 3 now which means she has another two more years of nursery and pre-k before going to Kindergarten. Any suggestions or thoughts?

My DS was born on 12/21 and is also 3.
I have no issues with it - I think it's later than a lot of the country (I have friends in areas who have 9/1 and 10/1 cutoffs and there are no ifs, ands or buts about it). Although I feel DS is pretty smart, I think he'd benefit from starting K at 5 not 4.
I believe you can get your DD tested to see if she can start K early - or you can start her at a private school and have her switch to public school afterwards.
