If your DC went from daycare to Pre-K
How was it different? Did your DC react differently once they started? I am planning on entering our town's "lotto" for Pre-K this fall (we are in NJ). The cost would be significantly less per month. It's from 8:30-2:30 and then I would need aftercare. He's been at daycare since he was 3 months old and of course they learn there but they also have play time and the teachers know him very well since he's been there for a long time. I am wondering if I put him into Pre-K do the teachers treat them more like little students (rather than babies / toddlers at daycare if that makes sense). Do they get play time? Do they get homework? I just have no idea.

I found less generic play time in pre-k vs daycare. More exposure to concepts and subject matter than just building blocks and letters. Sounds, numbers, writing skills etc. I feel pre-k was more educational than just free time. However there's still outside time for half an hour. She's out of 'school' at 2:45 and its free time play from then until we pick her up.
I did it because she didn't want to goof off in daycare she wanted to concentrate on a project, which they do in pre-k. It has increased her attention skills, details, finishing a project, social skills and independence all on top of educational things and fun time.
We have homework as in projects (i put up every week)
