Did your DC have any issues with crawling when they got older?

DD wore the harness for her first 3 months and then another 6 weeks at night. She's never liked being on her belly much and now at almost 9 months she still doesn't. She can't hold herself up on her knees at all. It seems like she always reverts back to that harness position where her hips go out and she's flat on the ground. I know it's not a problem for babies to never crawl, just wondering if it's related to her hips or just her.

One more question. did you have follow up appointments with the ortho after they finished treatment? Once DD was healed and they switched her to just nights, they had me make an appt. to come after 3 weeks to adjust her harness and said I wouldn't have to come at the end of the 6 weeks since she'd just be done. I ended up canceling that appointment since we were busy and her harness didn't need adjusting. Wondering if they'd want to check her after 6 months or a year?

DD1 had hip dysplasia and wore the harness for 2 months.

She went for follow-up appts every 6 months and then every year. She is 5 and doesn't need to go back until around puberty.

I think you should make the appt and follow their recommendations for follow-up. They check to make sure the hips are aligned as she continues to grow.

DD crawled on the later end-around 10 or 11 months. Still at 5 years old she sleeps in the harness position and if she is laying on the floor coloring or watching TV, she lays in that position. It's not a probably, it's just kind of funny.

Thank you so much for your response. I'll definitely give them a call and see if/when they want to see her for a follow up. I also planned to talk to my ped about the crawling at her 9 month appointment which is coming up. I just always like to have some info before I go. And yep, it's cute that she's still sleeps in the harness position. Funny that your DD still does it at 5.Chat Icon

Yes, both my DD's had hip dysplasia. Yes, both...LOL

Went to the same ortho for both of them. They were both checked at 6 months. And then at 1yr old (need to make the appt for DD since she will be 1 next month) and then every year until they turn 5.

I would definitely follow up with your ortho. I am sure that nothing is wrong. DD #1 didn't crawl until 9.5 almost 10 months old. And as you said, some babies never crawl at all!

Aaack, both! Not what I want to hear, lol!

Yep, I called and apparently I missed the fact that we should have gone at 6 months. Made an appointment for next week. Do they just do an ultrasound at the follow ups?
