Anyone have one that they love? Pm ped recommended Ronald Lewis but I see the reviews aren't so great. Thank you!

My son's Ortho is Cathleen Raggio at the Hospital for Special Sugery and I can't say enough wonderful things about her. She is very thorough, kind and did not rush us at all. She spent over 40 min with us at my son's first appt (and it was for a second opinion).

Exactly. I first saw another orthopedist who had a great personality, but who I didn't really feel confident in. Dr. Lewis is very dry, but you can tell that he knows his stuff. DD was only 2 months when we saw him, so I might feel differently if I was taking an older DC to him, as I'd want him to be able to make the child feel relaxed.

TY! I wound up making an appointment with him. My DC is only 9 months. He hurt his leg..had xrays at pm ped which were normal. It seems that Dr. Lewis is the best when it comes to fractures. I don't think the xrays are very reliable at my son's age so I want to make sure he's in good hands.

Dr. Laplaza out of New Hyde Park was wonderful. He also has office hours out of Commack as well.

Re: Pediatric ortho
Dr. Lewis was great when my son broke his leg. Personality not as much but a great dr. The hospital wasn't able to locate my son's fracture but emailed him the xrays and he saw it. I saw him a year later when I thought my son broke it again and he was great (I saw another dr first because - totally different office only bc it was after dr's hours and he had no personailty and was horrible!!!).
More recently, I used Dr Gaffney, who use to partner with Lewis, when my daughter broke her arm. Now his personality was less than Lewis in my opinion but supposedly a great dr. He was quoted in an NY Times article about leg fractures....exactly how my son broke his leg. My son is one of these stats....lol http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C00EEDB1339F937A15757C0A9649D8B63

We had our visit with Dr. Lewis today and I would highly recommend him. He found a fracture in DS leg that PM peds didnt see. As for bedside manner, he just wasn't obnoxiously nice like some peds can be. My 2 kids were both very comfortable around him and he was very good with my 9 mo old.
The staff was also very nice. You can tell they are busy, but when ever I engaged any of them in conversation they were all very nice. I'm really kind've surprised by all the negative reviews. HTH!

Glad you had a good experience! Not sure why he gets a bad rep. I have taken both of my DD's to him for hip[ dysplasia. I think he is a great doctor! Reminds me that I need to schedule my DD's 1yr checkup with him!
