How long does your 6-month-old stay awake during the day?

My DD still only stays up for 1.5-2.5 hours before needing a nap. Some naps are 2+ hours, some are 30-45 min cat naps. She usually naps 3-4 times per day. When she is awake, she is alert and active, so I'm not worried, just curious. She is not a big eater at all, so I wonder if it's her way of conserving energy, or if she does not have enough energy because she doesn't consume enough calories. At night, she sleeps from 7:30 - 8:30 until 6:15-7:00, with a dreamfeed in the middle, and maybe 1 or two brief awakenings where she just needs her pacifier and the white noise turned back on. I know all babies are different, but I wonder how often other babies her age stay awake for in one stretch.

How long does your 6-month-old stay awake during the day?

When DS was 6mths old he was only awake for maybe 3hrs max. Now at 8mths he still sometimes only stays up for 3hrs. I think its normal.

She sounds a lot like DD at that age (except for the not eating part). DD did 3-4 naps until 6 months and was usually awake for two hours at a time except for a longer stretch before bed. She dropped to 3 for a little while and then quickly adjusted to two. She's 8 months now and stays up for 3 hours (sometimes less and only more if we're out and busy) and she does 2 naps a day.

It is totally typical for a 6 month old to only stay awake for about 2 hours at a time. That's what they are supposed to do! Once they drop down to 2 naps you start notifying they can stay awake for longer stretches.

My dd is the same exact way and is 6 months old. She does 1big nap about 2 hours long Nd then just 30-45 min cat naps through day/night. Shes awake for 2 hours then naps. She also isnt a big eater quantity wise per bottle but drinks often and now she eats solids as well. Her bottle before bed is a bigger bottle. She goes down around 10 snd sleeps until 6-7 am. Sometimes she takes a bottle and goes right back to sleep for an hour othertimes shes up and then goes for a nap.

At 6 mons my DS was taking 2 naps. One mid morning for 30 mins or so and then an afternoon one for 1-2 hrs.

DS didn't nap much and he is always on the go.
