7 Month Old still takinga bottle at 1AM
DS will be 7 months tomorrow. He has always been a bad sleeper - naps included. He has struggled with reflux and I think it has created some bad sleep habits. He has an 8oz bottle at 8/8:30 and falls alseep on his own in his crib. He wakes up 1/1:30AM and will only fall back to sleep with a bottle. He used to take 6 oz but we have cut it back to 2-4 oz. I definitely do not think he needs the bottle but its a bad habit. He screams! Any advice?

Maybe try a bottle of water? Hopefully he gives up on wanting it then.

Does he hold the bottle on his own? When DD was doing this, I left a bottle of water in her crib. She would wake up crying, look around, find the bottle, take a few sips and put herself back to sleep. Worth a try!

Does he take a paci? It was the only way I could get one of my twins to drop the night bottle. I think he needed the sucking motion because he definitely wasn't hungry. He had the paci in his crib but looked for the bottle. After about a week of us not giving him the bottle and sticking the paci in his mouth, rubbing his back, turning on his mobile, etc. he got the point and when he would stir would stick it in his mouth on his own.

My friend went thru this & dr made her cut bottle out cold turkey. The child screamed at night...but quickly learned to eat more during the day.

To each his own but IMO seven months is young to take away a bottle if the baby is actually hungry. I would try some of the other methods mentioned to see if it is real hunger or just a comfort thing.

This My pediatrician told me that at 6 months a child no longer needs to eat in the middle of the night

We had to let DS cry it out at 6 months. He was still waking up once a night for a bottle. He cried one night for 45 min and has slept through the night since. (He's 13 m)

I agree. To me if he is actually drinking he is hungry. DS is 8mths and normally never wakes during the night to feed but occasionally he wakes up at 3am crying. I give him 4 oz and he falls back to sleep.
