Anyone who used sirm- I had some questions

I am looking to switch RE's. I used to go to rsony. I have been seeing and endo specialist in the city and will be having surgery in beginning of next year and after surgery i will likely need to go back to an RE. I have heard great things about SIRM but I wonder how it works to see an RE in the city if you live on the island? I am thinking it would be impossible with all the times you need to go. Has anyone made it work?
Thanks!!!

I used to go to NYU in Manhatten. when I was going there this was my schedule:

Up at 5:15a
Catch a 5:40a train
Get to morning monitoring between 6:45 and 7a
Catch a 7:45a train back to LI
get in my car around 8:30
Get to work by 9a

It was tolerable at first bc my eye was on the prize but after a couple of months I decided to find someplace closer.

Honestly if you work full time and live in LI I don't think SIRM will work for you. They don't have early morning monitoring and you have to have an appointment for bloodwork and ultra sound. All my appointments have been after 10 and it is really hard with work. If your job is flexible and you can swing it I would highly rec. Dr. T, he is a great doctor. But if you can't I would look into Cornell and NYU, they have really early monitoring hours. All the doctors at Cornell are great. I consulted with Dr. Grifo at NYU and liked him but chose to go to SIRM.

ITA. And Cornell has a satellite office in Garden City that starts doing bloods at 7:30 and sonos at 8:00 (usually earlier Mon-Thur because Dr. Kang starts as soon as she arrives).

I live and work in Suffolk and it hasn't been terrible. The difference in quality of care is worth it to me. I started at RSofNY too.

Well, I don't work so for me personally it was easy. I have to say, Dr.T is amazing and the office is something special. I definitely think they're worth working around your schedule for if you can.

You don't find out your appointment time till the day before, but you can give them an am/pm preference. The reason they do this is so that Dr.T can be available for ERs, ETs, as well as all your monitoring appointments. To me, this was preferable to being monitored by a nurse.... but I was also seen by Dr.B for nearly 3 years where I had grown very used to the personal attention.

If you can swing it, I can't recommend them highly enough!!!

I can only imagine it would be hard coming from Long Island butif you can work it out, it's worth it. In my experience if you tell them you need a morning or afternoon apt, they almost always will give it to you. The exception would be ER's and ET's which are normally done in the morning and afternoon respectively. You could do something like ask for the latest or earliest appt to work around your schedule. If not, Cornell and NYU are great alternatives.
