Cost of medications - can you shop around?
I am doing b2b IUI's this next cycle with clomid, ovidrel, and crinone (same protocol we used to conceive my son).
Thing is, I got a call from the pharmacy yesterday that the cost for the Ovidrel and Crinone is $145. Neither is covered by insurance. Add to that all the apptmts and copays and it adds up.
I'm wondering if anyone knows whether it's possible to shop around for these meds. And what pharmacies have these types of meds. My RE uses Metro Drugs.
It's $75 for the Ovidrel and $70 for the Crinone.
Things are tight now as I'm a SAHM and we've had some unexpected expenses. Things should get better in about 3 months (fewer expenses and I'll be working PT) but until then, every penny counts.
ANy advice?

Can you ask your RE if you can use an hcg shot instead of the ovidrel?

That is ridiculous!!! I have hcg that you can have for free. They are the same exact thing just one you have to mix and the other is prefilled.
